I AM LISTENING…

Advice for Residents

1st April 2021

Fareham Council    Covid19

The NHS has launched a free app which is one of the fastest ways to see if you’re at risk of coronavirus. It is a great initiative that alerts you about your exposure to someone who has been affected. If you have been near other app users who may have tested positive you will be alerted immediately. I strongly recommend each and everyone makes use of this app so as to protect themselves from getting infected and unwittingly infecting others.

Although the stay-at-home order has ended as of now, several restrictions remain as we are not completely out of the woods yet. If you continue to abide by these restrictions it will go a long way in ensuring your safety. For those who can, please continue to work from home as much as possible, which will also help minimise your travel.

For those who cannot avoid venturing out, the NHS app is important. What does the app do?

·         Allows you to check-in to venues
·         Provides information about the infection rate in your area
·         Check symptoms
·         Book a coronavirus test
·         In case of self-isolation it will set a countdown timer

It is the personal responsibility of each of us to do our bit in helping the government control and tackle the situation and this app is a small step in the right direction.

As the vaccine program is in motion I would again like to remind you to not fall prey to the vaccine scam. The coronavirus vaccine is free of charge and at no point will you be asked to pay a fee of any kind. The NHS will never ask you for your bank account or card details. In the case of receiving a fraudulent message never provide your PIN or banking password. The NHS follows proper protocol and will never arrive unannounced at your home to administer the vaccine. The NHS will also never ask you to send copies of personal documents such as your passport, driving license, bills or pay slips as a means to prove your identity.

If you receive a call you believe to be fraudulent, simply hang up. If you believe you have been the victim of fraud or identity theft you should report this directly to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

For your vaccine you do not need to contact the NHS and you should instead wait for the NHS to contact you. They will let you know when it is your turn for the vaccine. For further information or to check your eligibility for the vaccine please visit the NHS website. Every detail related to the vaccine and updates about coronavirus are regularly posted there.
