Covid-19: What do you need to do?

2nd April 2020

Fareham East    Wallington    Fareham Council    Covid19

Reducing the spread and the containment of the coronavirus has to be a community-effort with small efforts taken by each and every one of us.

Stay at home! It is important that you avoid going outside other than for absolute essentials such as for food, health reasons or essential work. If you can manage to work from home, it is a sensible decision, and a government requirement to do so.

If you absolutely have to go out, make sure that you stay at least 2 metres (6ft) away from others at all times. Sanitisation is important - avoid touching anything unnecessarily, avoid touching your eyes and mouth, and you need to wash your hands frequently when out and about and especially when you get back home.

Avoid meeting friends or family. Social distancing is the need of the hour. Please remember, the virus can be passed on even if you are not showing any particular symptoms. You may unknowingly be a carrier and transmit this onto to someone who could not be so fortunate.

As per the Council Service Update, dated April 2, 2020, there are a few guidelines that we ask you to follow while dealing with the disposal of rubbish:

People with symptoms or those who are self-isolating, make sure that you seal personal waste like tissues and disposable cleaning cloths in small plastic bags and store them for 72 hours. Only after 72 hours, you can double bag the waste and place it in your refuse bin.

Recycling needs to be loose in the blue-lid bin with the lid closed. Additional recycling must be put in a clear bag and left next to the recycling bin on collection day.

Suspended Services:

·         Garden waste collection service
·         Fridge/freezer collection
·         Bulky waste service
·         Collection of textiles from the Salvation Army blue coloured banks
·         Reduction in grass cutting activities

Following these small measures can help prevent unnecessary contamination. Small efforts on the part of each and everyone will go a long way in fighting the situation.

Please remember to Stay Home and Stay Safe!
