I AM LISTENING…

Go Local to Support Our Community

28th August 2020

Fareham East    Wallington    Fareham Council

Support to local traders and small businesses has become our priority which gave birth to the “Shop Local” and “Eat Local” campaign. The Mayor of Fareham and the Leader of Fareham Borough Council have been trying to encourage residents to support local traders through this campaign.

While a number of residents have already been using local shops considerably more during the lockdown we hope that this habit of shopping locally continues to see a positive upward trend. When you shop locally you are helping your community grow and ours is a community that has a lot to offer. There are boutiques, specialist stores, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops, hairdressers, and so much more.

All the latest safety norms and Government guidelines are adhered to by our local shops and shoppers alike. A number of food and drink retailers have slashed their prices and are passing on the benefit of the VAT cut to the customers.

The “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme by the Government to cut the meal cost by up to £10 per person from Mondays to Wednesdays is valid until the end of this month. There are a number of Fareham restaurants and food outlets participating in this scheme. You can visit https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/eat-out-to-help-out/find-a-restaurant/ to have a look at the list of participating restaurants where you get a 50% discount when eating at a restaurant that is registered under the scheme.

Fareham also has a new community art and entertainment venue set out to launch in the near future that will bring the people together over arts and entertainment. The venue is for the community and the community has a say in choosing its name.
A few name suggestions have been put forth, each suggestion having significance in terms of Fareham's history and spirit.
Here are the options:
A - The Kiln, Fareham
B - The Quay, Fareham
C - The Tannery, Fareham
D - Fareham Live
There are a number of ways that people can vote for their favourite name for the new venue: Voting closes on Sunday, September 13, 2020, and the new name will be announced in October 2020. Do put in your vote as every opinion counts when it comes to christening this venue for the people!

Fareham has always shown a spirit of solidarity. Let us be back on our feet stronger than ever while supporting our own!
