Far too often people use the word HERO to describe achievements when it is not deserved.  Our NHS staff are risking their lives every day to protect our nation from coronavirus. Winston Churchill said, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” An incredibly appropriate quote in describing the people who are fighting against this deadly virus.

It is often said that people step up when our backs are against the wall. Our NHS staff, care workers, ambulance service, volunteers and many others who are helping to keep us all safe, can certainly put themselves in this category. In addition, there are thousands of people who are making sure we get the vital supplies we need.  These are the real heroes and must never be forgotten for their acts of selflessness.

I support the campaign for a medal to be given to everyone who is working or volunteering on the frontline during this pandemic. In addition, anyone who has lost their lives should be awarded a medal for bravery.
