Scheme to support pubs affected by Covid lockdown extends in Fareham
The hospitality business has taken the hardest hit due to the Covid situation. While we were just coming out of the worst phase post lockdown, we had to go into another similar phase due to the spread of the new strain of the virus. Pubs and restaurants are bound to take the longer route back to normality compared to other sectors that have been affected by the lockdown.
The reopening of pubs will be one of the most eagerly awaited moments for many within the local community once the restrictions ease. Due to the importance of pubs to the general public, the Government is doing its best to make sure that they sustain the current circumstances and can bounce back without much hardship. The government has extended a helping hand for pubs by setting up a support fund from its Christmas Support Payment for wet-led pubs. As per the Fareham council, 22 pubs in the borough have already received a £1000 payment as support.
While this scheme was originally intended to last until January 2021, it has now been extended by a month. Those who have missed it and haven’t applied for a grant, there is still time to apply for the funds.
The council believes that without such support, the local pubs in communities across the country will be lost forever. If you are in the hospitality industry and are eligible, I urge you to seek support so that you come out of this relatively unscathed.
