I AM LISTENING…

Thanking all the Good Samaritans, Now more than ever!

21st July 2020

Fareham East    Wallington    Fareham Council    Covid19

This pandemic has proven to be a genuinely testing phase for each and every one of us. But while overcoming the personal hurdles and effects of the economic crisis, there have been many who went beyond and took a step forward to lend a helping hand.

I want to take this moment to extend my sincere Thank You to those who have selflessly come forward to help others in any way they could.

As this worldwide crisis hit us, the need for volunteers was felt everywhere - not for many years has this been the case. Help was and still is required in various forms. Be it as a support to the elderly or vulnerable who might need their essentials stocked up, or those whose source of income suddenly ceased due to the changes in the economy or offering aid to our heroic frontline workers.

Through these testing times, we witnessed countless selfless volunteers find innovative ways that helped make a difference for those in need, while still adhering to the new norms.

While there has been such a tremendous amount of change, there is one thing that remains constant in our hearts: our gratitude and our everlasting appreciation for each and every one of you who have given their time to serve the community in any way!

The Council officially thanked several volunteers who extended their support towards vulnerable Fareham residents during these trying times. Batches of Thank You letters were hand-delivered to the volunteers as a sign of the borough's appreciation for their hard work and support.

I would also like to mention here about the Rainbow Centre in Fareham. This centre provides a 'lifeline' for families of children with neurological conditions. Although the centre remains shut due to the pandemic, it has been doing its best to work online to reach out to the families of children who otherwise used to attend the centre regularly. At present, the Rainbow Centre also needs extra support to continue its services after being hit hard by the current crises.

Life is slowly returning to normal for many but let's not leave anyone behind. Please keep up this amazing community spirit and support to help each other and organisations such as the Rainbow Centre. that is doing its best to keep a smile on the faces of these children throughout the pandemic.

Reach out - next door, over the road, search online, contact charities directly! Fareham is a wonderful town we should be genuinely proud of.

A big Thank You once again to each and every Volunteer!
